The Pueblo Parks and Recreation Department is truly a gem to our community. It offers residents a safe, clean, and attractive parks system and recreational facilities, combined with quality, diverse recreation and leisure opportunities. The department operates more than 70 Park sites totaling over 682 acres, including various shelters, picnic areas and athletic fields.
The city is constantly investing in new and renovated parks and recreational facilities that include: 24 miles of bicycle and walking trails along the Arkansas River, four outdoor swimming pools with creative spray parks, forty-seven playgrounds, a dog park, disc golf course, tennis complex, Mineral Palace Park Rose Gardens, an indoor Ice Arena, a skateboard park, Arkansas River Kayak Course, Kiddie Rides at City Park and two municipal golf courses. The City Park is home to two ponds for fishing, and a public zoo that is open all year round. The zoo has over 400 animals including 120 different species including lions, otters and penguins.
